I am the Son

In my sleeping I felt your arms
lift me up and carry me
to the mountain where you laid me
washed away the blood and tears

I heard a voice cry out I'd died
to save a billion souls from pain
but I heard you whisper through your tears
"Father let him live again!"

They say I lay within the tomb
alone and cold for three long days
I remember the heat of pain
from where the nails were torn away

And I cried
for fear I'd died
and never see the sun again
or feel the earth beneath my feet
and smell the wet grass after rain

And on that third day, so they told me
Angels rolled the stone away
all I know is in my death sleep
suddenly a bright light came

I tore the sheets from 'round my head
and saw the sun and felt the breeze
and I stumbled to my feet
and walked into the bright new day

And all my life it seemed had led
to that moment in the sun
when I stood, the Word revealed
filled with light and born again

and I am the Spirit
I am the Father
I am the Son.

This was written and performed by Mark Arthur, whose wife is a friend of mine. You can find out more about him and his work on his YouTube channel or on his blog. Many thanks to Mark for giving me permission to re-post the video and his lyrics on this blog. I think this song is absolutely awesome.
